This match offered a chance for several Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.
A solitary concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
